When I design a print that is intended to be used with pegboard (also known as perforated hardboard) I like to make sure it will work with either inch or metric board. I considered just buying some metric hardboard for testing, but it is surprisingly hard to find in the US.

But then I thought, "Duh! Why not just print some!" And since I figure my metric friends are the same boat (except their boat is metric), I made some inch standard test blocks as well. Not only do these test blocks enable testing a part's fit for both inch and metric, they are also easier to use than running to the pegboard on my shop wall.

The blocks are made to these standards :

  • Inch standard = 1" spacing, 1/4" holes
  • Metric standard = 25mm spacing, 6mm holes

Each pegboard standard is provided in two blocks, one with 1x2 holes and one with 3x3 holes. In addition, multiple blocks can be set next to each other to create an extended assembly with proper spacing.

The OnShape 3D CAD files for this are here :

Print instructions

Print in PLA using the 3mf files provided. Each set of gcode prints two blocks.

Each of the blocks is labeled as inch or metric, but I also like to print them in different colors for easier identification.
